How’z It?

March 5, 2009

That’s the official South African greeting. I just got here and am so tired. Didn’t sleep too well on my 36 hour journey across the world. Probably one hour total. The people here are amazing and very welcoming. I just found out that on Monday I will be teaching my own class of 17 students,  ranging from six to seven years old at the creche. Pretty crazy, since I’m not a school teacher, but I am the son of one. Mom help!  It’s a class full of refugees that can’t afford to go to normal school. She said she’s throwing me into the deep end. Here goes nothing! Please pray.

  1. Dude, I am so excited for you! And they’re giving you your own class?! No way! That is awesome. You will forever be the Giant Teacher that changed those kid’s lives for the better. Nice!

  2. Hi Taylor,

It’s great to hear from you! I’m glad everyone is so welcoming! Wow! Teaching school! Remember when you told me, “all I did was play with kids all day.” Hmmm. Now it’s your turn. Have fun!

    Love, Mom

    P.S. Don’t lose your passport. 🙂

  3. Well i am so glad to hear you are there! I know God is there with you every step of the way! You are going to be a great teacher… no doubt in my mind. I am praying for you with all i have in me.

Remeber… God’s grace IS enough. He is right next you, holding and guiding you along the path he has planned!

    Have fun and good luck!

  4. I’m jealous!!! I’m certified to teach in 2 states and I still have YET to have my own class!!!! That’s awesome. You will be great!

  5. Hi, Taylor,

We’ll Taylor, it must run in the genes! Your mom is a teacher, your grandma was a teacher, and your great grandma was a teacher. Even your aunt is a teacher! You’re going to teach them things with your words, but more importantly with your life. We’ll be praying for you and looking forward to reading your blog.

    Love, Aunt Shari
