I Hate Being Sick

January 28, 2009

I guess no one really likes it, huh? When you’re sick, it’s really all about you. It’s all about taking care of yourself, trying to see how YOU feel, and doing whatever it takes to make YOU feel the most comfortable.  The past few days, I have not felt very spiritual.   It was even hard to think about God, because I was thinking about myself all the time.

I am feeling better and trying to think about “godly” things now.  I’m glad God meant for us to focus on others.  It’s really how we were created.  We are supposed to make sure that we are doing ok (spiritually, mentally, relationally), before we help others (think about putting on your oxygen mask before you help those traveling with you on a plane).  I think God gives us those times of sickness, so we can focus on ourselves for a few days, but we shouldn’t stay like this.  We are made to give our lives away to others.

Do you need to take time to focus on yourself, before you serve others? Do you need to focus on others, instead of yourself so much? If you don’t change, you could be causing major damage to yourself or others.

For God So Loved the World

January 9, 2009

When I hear that 30 civilians in Palestine have been killed today, it seems like a normal day to me, but when something tragically happens in the U.S., it really affects me. Why is that? God, please give me Your heart for this world.

South Africa Update

January 7, 2009

So I know I said in my support letter that I would have updates and such on here, but the real good stuff won’t come until I am actually there.  I am shooting  to leave around February 27th  or so.  I am waiting on funds right now, so I can buy a plane ticket, which then allows me to get my visa.  That is pretty much it. I have sent out all of my letters and am already amazed how God is providing through His people.  I don’t think it’s hit me yet. Next month I will be flying across the world, to actually live in another country. Not just visit, but LIVE.  I am praying for amazing things and hoping for God to use me mightily in His story. I am even hoping to have a story of my own and who knows, maybe I can write a book about it (a dream of mine).  Thanks for embarking on this journey with me.  We’ve only just begun (corny but awesome).

We’re All In This Together

January 1, 2009

If you haven’t seen this video,  you have to watch it.  I love that the video on the left is footage of members of Hillsong United. They are not pointing fingers, except at themselves.

This is from their website:

“THE I HEART REVOLUTION is a movement of people seeking to help people, showing Gods love in a practical way with no strings attached.

In 2009, Hillsong United will globally release Were All in This Together, a feature-length documentary. It will tell some of these stories, illustrating the inseparable union of worship and justice – aimed at inspiring people to see injustice, think creatively and act in response.”
